In my work with children, kids often express feelings of being “different” because of anxiety, worry, or feeling isolated from peers due to differences beyond their control. These feelings are completely real for children, yet, kids often do not have the words to describe how they feel. This is why my work with children often incorporates play therapy, sandtray therapy, and other creative approaches to support my work with children.
My child clients and their families often have goals to reduce anxiety, improve emotion regulation, increase social skills, and provide support during life transitions. These transitional periods are often due to changing schools, moving locally or from a different state, changing peer groups, or coming out as LGBTQ+. I am able to provide a supportive, nurturing environment for the child to explore their feelings and uncover skills to self-regulate.
As part of my work with children, I provide regular support to parents.
