I would describe myself as positive, supportive, and empathetic. I enjoy working with children, adolescents and their families to learn coping skills, build their self-esteem, and express their emotions. I aim to meet clients where they are to support their growth in a safe, nonjudgmental space. I believe that by creating a trusting environment, clients will feel comfortable and empowered to develop the skills and confidence to thrive socially and emotionally in their lives.
I believe that the relationship between the client and counselor is the most important factor in the therapeutic process. I believe that in order to make progress toward our goals, it’s important that the child feels seen, heard, and accepted. Caregivers are the experts on their children, so I believe that working with caregivers as a team is essential to therapeutic success.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in school and clinical settings. My focus areas include anxiety/worry, self-regulation, self-esteem, social skills, and life transitions. I approach counseling from both non-directive and directive standpoints and utilize techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy. I believe in the effectiveness of using play therapy interventions to help children and adolescents develop responsibility, decision-making skills, and self-regulation skills in a safe environment.
I was born and raised in southeast Louisiana. I moved to New Orleans in 2020, and I have enjoyed supporting families in the New Orleans area since. In 2016, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Family and Consumer Sciences, and in 2019, I earned a Master of Education in School Counseling, both from Nicholls State University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) through the state of Louisiana. Outside of the playroom, I enjoy traveling, reading, and trying new restaurants in the city. I am excited to be part of the Nourish Counseling Studio team, and I look forward to supporting the children and families of the New Orleans area!
