I approach therapy with the foundation that within each person is an innate desire to become their best possible self. If people are given a non-judgmental, accepting environment, they can explore what that best self looks like. I take a non-directive approach with clients, meeting them where they are at each week. With that framework, children in the playroom can invite me into their world so that I can learn about their lived experiences. Within my approach, unconditional positive regard helps children strengthen their self-esteem, confidence, and sense of self. The most important building block of therapy is a strong therapeutic relationship, so I strive to create that relationship with children and their families and, in turn, support caregivers to strengthen their relationship with their children.
I believe that each child, adolescent, and family is unique, so I adapt my services to meet the various needs of each family I work with. I do not think there is only one right way to parent, so I work with caregivers to find strategies that fit their needs and parenting style. I work with children, adolescents, and families with a variety of issues, including life transitions, grief, trauma, anxiety, and relationship issues. I incorporate creative strategies into my sessions, including art activities, sand tray, and the power of play.
In 2020 I graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama with a B.S. in psychology and a minor in philosophy. I moved to New Orleans in 2020 to attend Loyola University. In 2023, I graduated from Loyola New Orleans with a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Upon graduation, I was awarded the Mimi Heebe Excellence in Play Therapy Award for my work with children throughout my school and internship experience. In that time, I fell in love with the diverse and vibrant community here and decided to make New Orleans my home. Since graduation, I have enjoyed working with children, adolescents, and their families in the greater New Orleans area.
I am a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor in Louisiana and a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors.
